New Mariachi Classes Offered in Partnership with Phoenix Parks and Rec! (Feb 25-Apr 1)

We’re excited to announce a special opportunity for young musicians in Phoenix! In partnership with Phoenix Parks and Recreation, Desert Sounds is offering youth mariachi classes designed to introduce students to the rich tradition and energy of mariachi music.

📅 Class Dates: February 25 – April 1
🕐 Day/Time: Mondays (see schedule exception below)
👧🏽 Ages: 5–17 (Grades K–12)
📍 Location: Maryvale Community Center (4420 N 51st Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85031)

Participants will discover the joy and tradition of mariachi music in this engaging one-hour class designed for youth in grades K–12 who want to explore Mexican musical culture through performance. Students will be introduced to mariachi fundamentals, including basic instrumental technique, rhythm, ensemble playing, and traditional repertoire.

Classes are active, hands-on, and supportive, helping students build confidence while learning to play together as a group. No prior playing experience is required.

Whether your child dreams of playing violin, trumpet, or guitarrón—or just wants to try something new—this class offers a welcoming space to learn, play, and grow through music.
