Violin to Veterinary: How Kaiti Found Her Future

Kaiti picked up the violin in fourth grade. And she hasn’t put it down since.

Early on, she knew she wanted to play mariachi music. But when the local group her family knew closed during the pandemic, it looked like that dream might have to wait. Thankfully, her mom did some research and found us.

Kaiti joined Desert Sounds in September of 2021—and she jumped in with heart and dedication. Today, she plays in not just one, but two of our mariachi ensembles: the Intermedios and the Virtuosos.

Her talent and commitment speak for themselves. But what really stands out is her spirit—focused, humble, and quietly powerful. Whether she’s helping tune a peer’s instrument or stepping into a solo, Kaiti leads with grace and confidence.

And she’s just getting started.

This fall, Kaiti will begin her college journey at Mesa Community College, where she’ll complete her core classes before transferring to Arizona State University to pursue a degree in Veterinary Sciences. Her goal? To continue on to veterinary school and build a career caring for animals.

At Desert Sounds, we know that not every student will pursue a career in music. But the lessons they carry with them—discipline, identity, community, and pride—stay long after the final note.

We’re proud of Kaiti and honored to be part of her journey.
