A Violin, a Dream, and the Road to Becoming a Homicide Detective

Thank you so much for my violin. Last year I played it, it was so fun. I recently learned that I can get a scholarship! My biggest dream is to be a homicide detective. And thanks to you, I can make that possible.

This real note came from a Jeremy Project student.

It’s short, honest, and unforgettable.

This child didn’t say, I want to be a famous musician.
They said, I want to make a difference in the world.
And somehow, a violin—an instrument they never would’ve had access to without your help—became their first step toward that dream.

At Desert Sounds, the Jeremy Project was created to make sure no child is excluded from music just because their family can’t afford an instrument. Through this program, hundreds of students each year are given the tools they need to play, grow, and believe in what’s possible.

For some, music becomes a lifelong passion.
For others, it becomes the launchpad to something even bigger.

Because music doesn’t just teach notes—it teaches discipline, teamwork, confidence, and hope.

And in this student’s case?
It helped them believe they were college material.
It helped them imagine themselves as a leader, a protector, a problem-solver.
It helped them see their dream of becoming a homicide detective as something real.

When you give to the Jeremy Project, you’re not just funding music. You’re investing in futures. Futures shaped by creativity, courage, and possibility.
